Show 76 – Raise Your Voice

Today is part of Raise Your Voice, CFRU’s annual fundraising drive and Show#76 for Family Matters. This week marks the two year anniversary for Family Matters. To mark the occasion, I have a special interview and a story to share with you.

This morning, my youngest son Rowan joins me in the studio as we ask you to support volunteer programmers like me so that we can continue to do the work we love.

If you enjoy this show as much as I do, please donate online www.CFRU.ca and mention Family Matters in the comments line. I love this show because I get to interview amazing guests; share vulnerable, honest stories about families; and talk about parenthood. If the stories on this show have touched you as much as they have touched me, please make a pledge. Rowan and I gladly took pledges in the studio.

Notes about the show

The first interview is new to Family Matters. Zhyfhs Millicent was the host of the show “Wake UP!” here on CFRU every Friday morning for 3 years. For her last show, at the end of this summer, she interviewed me about my parenting style and my views about conflict management. This is the first time I’ve aired this on Family Matters. I hope you enjoy it.

The next story was taken from Show#66, Empathy and Vulnerability with Cathy Bucher on April 3, 2011. Cathy is a mother with 2 boys, ages 9 and 12 years. She has been a special education teacher for over 20 years. We share a story about how stepping into vulnerability helps us connect to the ones we care about by first connecting to the life in us. The story illustrates how taking the time to notice what life in ourselves and our children motivates us to do things that we call hurtful, moves us beyond blame to understanding and problem solving. This is one scenario about me stepping into a fight between my two children.

Aired live: Sunday, October 23rd, 2011 0800-0900 Eastern Standard Time on CFRU 93.3 FM, Guelph, Ontario, Canada
