Show 57 – The Importance of Family from a Teen’s Perspective

Seventeen year old, Josh Pivato, joins Wendy McDonnell to discuss the importance of family and the challenges that he and his friends face.

We discuss the influence of media, the importance of belonging, and having a soft place to land when decisions are tough. School teaches that there are right and wrong answers. However, as Josh points out, life decisions about relationships and career choices are far more uncertain. It pays to take the time to think about what to do next and ask for help. That’s why families are so important.

I have to tell you Wendy that I so enjoy listening to your programs and how important they are to me. I find them to be very inspiring and also very helpful. It is really nice to know that all of us are really in the same boat and that BELONGING no matter what our age is so important. Your guest today seemed very mature and was a pleasure to listen to. He made me realize that I feel that with my kids I have given them the security about talking about those difficult Relationship questions. I know growing up that my parents generation did not talk about that stuff. So for me I have made it a point to be open about it. I’m happy to have heard that confirmation. With deep gratitude for what you do, Wendy. <3
