Canada World Youth has several programs, in over 20 countries around the world, for youth between the ages of 15 and 35 looking to gain leadership experience through participation in community-driven development projects.
Joan Alexander who hosts participants and project supervisors Anda Petro and Oksana Mararenko from CanadaWorldYouth.org talk about the Youth Leaders in Action Program.
“Our 4-6 Month Youth Leaders in Action projects are a unique option for youth between the ages of 17 to 25 looking for a more in-depth and integrated learning experience. This reciprocal program is divided into 2 phases of 2-3 months, one in Canada and one overseas, where youth from Canada and the partner country take part in both of those phases. During the program, the youth volunteers contribute to community-driven development projects which focus on health, the environment or gender equity, live in host families and take part in youth-led educational activities.”
- We talk about how this program benefits the participants, host families, and the communities they live in.
