Family Matters is a unique Canadian interview radio show for families and parents. With curiosity, empathy, and care, we explore birth, death, and everything in between.
In celebration of turning 100, this special Family Matters show features clips from a variety of Wendy’s favourite shows and something that’s never been broadcasted before.
Hello Wendy, Just wanted to let you know how much my husband and I enjoyed the Easter Show with Chris Mascaro. Chris is our nephew and to listen to him be so caring and speak so openly was wonderful for Bob and I. Chris doesn’t always open up to us and this was so good to hear. You were so good at listening and letting him get his feelings and thoughts out – thank you. You have a lovely, compassionate voice and we feel that your programs will do so much to help people because you have real life situations and some possible solutions. Thank you so much. Bob and Margi Hay, Nanaimo, B.C.
Volunteer host and producer, Wendy McDonnell, broadcasted the first show on CFRU Sunday, October 25, 2009. Since then, the show airs live from Guelph, Ontario, Canada most Sunday mornings 8-9 AM. It was a delightful surprise when Family Matters received an Honourable Mention at the 2010 National Community Radio Awards! Since the Fall 2011, the show is syndicated Saturday mornings 8-9 AM on CKUW 95.9 FM in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Family Matters Radio features conversations about family life. We’re imperfect, living together, and learning all the time. We support our families by sharing when we’ve made mistakes and when we’ve been brilliant. We discuss supportive parenting practices and communication in conventional and unconventional families. We explore what family life looks like beyond who’s right and who’s wrong and when everyone’s needs matter.
